Castagna - La Chiave Sangiovese 2017

The Castagna's mission, is to make wine which is the expression of the place where it is grown, stylistically making classic old-world wine with new-world fruit. The vineyard is fully certified both organic and biodynamic and they are one of only four Australian producers invited to be a member of La Renaissance des Appellations an organic association founded by biodynamic pioneer Nicolas Joly which invite exclusively organic producers with outstanding quality and commitment.

La Chiave Sangiovese is presenting, forestry scents of pine, autumnal mulch, mint, anise and porcini broth, warm and nourishing. The tannins, fine boned and long limbed. As yet unresolved. Yet this wine promises the most of the Italianate expressions here. The darker tones of fruit, a backdrop. The oak, an addendum. Long, edgy and fresh. An extremely convincing wine with pedigree and ageability written all over it
