Maison Paul Jaboulet - Aîné Cotes Du Rhone Parallele 45 Rouge 2019

The Freys, a long-standing Champagne family and proprietors of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux, bought up Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné in 2006. Caroline, the family's eldest daughter, holds a degree in oenology from Bordeaux and works with her teams in a single-minded pursuit of perfection. «The grape must be a natural product, not the result of manufactured chemistry.» Caroline's philosophy has guided her vineyard towards biodynamic gardening over the past decade, culminating in organic certification in 2016.

 This organic mix of Grenache and Syrah is named after the 45th Parallel, which runs through the Rhône Valley. On the nose, there are aromas of deep red cherry and spicy berry. This wine has a pleasant texture, with delicate tannins that cover the palate gently. On the palate, there's spiciness and rich, chewy, jammy fruit. It's not too complex, but it's balanced and delicious, with a burst of berry flavour that isn't overpowering on the tongue.
