Clemens Busch, an organic and biodynamic pioneer, was already questioning the use of herbicides and lowering the sulphur levels in his wines as a young winemaker in the 1970s. When he and his wife Rita inherited his parents' winery and vineyards in 1984, they were able to put their ideas into action. The Pündericher-Marienburg, a south-west-facing hillside vineyard in the Lower Mosel, provides the majority of their production.
The nose of the 2019er Riesling Trocken is alluring and elegant, with notes of pear, white peach, elderflower, a hint of carraway, and floral elements. The wine coats the nicely precise and full-bodied palate with juicy fruits and leaves a subtly creamy yet zesty aftertaste in the long and lingering finish. The aftertaste is enhanced by a hint of menthol, which adds a sense of power and presence.
