The Herdade dos Lagos estate is in the Valley of the Camels, or Vale de Camelos, in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal, which used to be known as the nation's breadbasket. As a result, agriculture is where the estate got its start. Currently, the farm is being managed by a dedicated, passionate team who are working in harmony with the natural environment to protect the local biodiversity and the future of the area.
The Alentejo word for the Spanish grape variety 'Tempranillo' is Aragonez. harvesting by hand at night. Temperature is controlled during fermentation. A total of 10% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels while the other 90% is aged in stainless steel tanks for 8 months. Natural cold stabilisation process.
