Arcano - Ribera del Duero 'Eternal' Tempranillo 2016

From vineyards at an elevation of roughly 900 metres. Fermented in a stainless steel 3000 litre tank, organically certified vineyard in the hills with less than 400 litres of rainfall per year, hand picked in October 2016. Natural yeasts were used in the fermentation process, and there was little interference in the winery. Aged in fresh 225 l French oak barrels for nearly two years and a further two years in bottle prior release. An example of the marriage of two strong qualities, the wine and the wood, as well as how ageing develops an already superb wine. Proud representation of what the Tempranillo varietal can achieve in a continental environment, at high altitude, and with low yielding vines.

Floral aromas alongside dark fruit notes, balsamic undertones, tobacco, and coffee. It is an exquisite and characterful wine with a wide range of flavours, from those associated with the Tempranillo varietal (black fruits, liquorice) to those derived from its extended age in barrels (coffee, spices, tobacco). It's a lengthy, powerful, and well-balanced wine with a lot of structure and depth.
