Sylvain Loichet comes from a long-established family on the Côte de Beaune. In 2005, after completing his oenology studies in Beaune, the then 22-year-old Sylvain decided to take over his grandparents' vineyards and converted it to organic in the following years. The domaine now works as a small négociant (trading house) with selected winegrowers in Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Sylvain mischievously calls this 'Négoce Haute-Couture'. His wines are handmade unique, from carefully and selectively hand-picked grapes, spontaneously fermented, without fining, only gently filtered and discreetly matured in wood.
Sylvain Lochet strives to bring the terroir of the respective location or plot puristically and precisely to the bottle. He succeeds particularly well with 'LES GRANDES VIGNES'. The 20 to 50 year old vines grow next to the Premier Cru vineyards of the 'Clos des Grandes Vignes' on red clay with gravel. On the nose aromas of fresh, red fruits with menthol notes. On the palate, the pattern of red fruits is repeated, with black and red currants. The oak is present, but remains subtle. A piece of jewellery in our range!
