Château Canon-la-Gaffelière - St.-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé 2016

Château Canon-la-Gaffelière has been elevated to Olympus of the Saint-Émilion classification and is now known as Premier Grand Cru Classé. The Château is situated on a sloping hill south of the mediaeval town of Saint-Émilion. Clay limestone and sandy soils make up the soils.

The proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and especially Cabernet Franc is much higher than in the region otherwise dominated by Merlot. Opulence is thus joined by finesse and elegance. The result is a Premier Grand Cru Classé with a worldwide reputation. As you might expect, Canon la Gaffeliere delivers a brilliant performance in 2016. The traditionally low yields in this exceptional vintage provide an almost playful elegance. Great nose of ripe currants and some dark forest floor, on the palate plums and dark chocolate.
