Larmandier-Bernier has been rated as one of Champagne’s top 5 producers by Andrew Jefford in his celebrated work, The New France, [Mitchell Beazley]. This estate is meticulously run by Pierre Larmandier and his wife Sophie. The estate is now 15 hectares, predominantly in Vertus, at the Southern tip of the Côte des Blancs, yet there are also holdings in Cramant, Chouilly, Oger & Avize. The vineyards are biodynamically worked.

Disgorged in January 2021. Pierre and Sophie vinify their two tiny, neighbouring Avize vineyards (Chemin de Plivot planted in 1955, and Chemin de Flavigny planted in 1960) into this cuvée. Both are highly chalky parcels with very little topsoil, and lie on the lower slopes of Avize The wines are left in bottle on their natural lees for a minimum of four years and are then disgorged by hand with only two grams dosage per litre. - "Larmandier-Bernier's 2013 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Les Chemins d'Avize is showing brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with a lovely nose of citrus oil, fresh apricot, peach and pear, complemented by hints of fresh walnuts and almond paste. Full-bodied, deep and vinous, it's layered and elegantly muscular, with a concentrated core of ripe fruit, racy acids and a long, mineral finish. Pierre Larmandier invariably excels in cool, late growing seasons, so the 2013 vintage was perfectly adapted to his talents." 96 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
