The Herdade dos Lagos estate is in the Valley of the Camels, or Vale de Camelos, in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal, which used to be known as the nation's breadbasket. As a result, agriculture is where the estate got its start. Currently, the farm is being managed by a dedicated, passionate team who are working in harmony with the natural environment to protect the local biodiversity and the future of the area.
Touriga Nacional is a variety of red wine grape, considered by many to be Portugal's finest. Vivid ruby red in colour. Complex, with notes of blackberry jam, chocolate, and woodland fruits. The mouthfeel is velvety, with a nice tannin/acid ratio that is balanced, a hint of ginger-like spice, and a sweetness layer resembling chocolate.
